On the 12th December 2001 the officers were crossing the concourse of Victoria Station when they noticed an altercation between a member of staff and a male person. On approaching them they were threatened by the male person who was in possession of a chair leg and a large knife. With disregard to their own safety they subdued the offender but only after a violent struggle. The offender subsequently pleaded guilty to public order and possession of offensive weapon charges.
