On Friday 28th December 2001 they attended Stockport Station to answer a call regarding a male person who had walked onto a viaduct. This was over 100 feet high and the man in question was threatening suicide.

They approached the male and it became obvious that he was under the influence of drink and drugs. He as balanced on a narrow ledge facing a sheer 100-foot drop.

The officers distracted the person and managed to grab him. A ferocious struggle followed on the viaduct ledge, eventually they managed to pull him to safety.

He was subsequently committed to hospital.
