Awards of Excellence - ScotlandPC Ross Kean and PC Ian Colquhoun
At about 1am on the 10th March 2003 Constable Ross Kean and Ian
Colquhoun were performing Mobile Patrol Duties when they were
flagged down by a badly burnt male outside a block of flats in
Corkerhill Place Glasgow. They observed that smoke was coming
from the top floor of the flats. They immediately summonsed
assistance and broke into the common area of the flats attempting to
reach a person shouting for help from the top floor flat, but they were
beaten back by smoke and flames.
Whilst evacuating the remainder of the flats the Fire Brigade arrived.
The male trapped in the top flat was subsequently rescued. Ross and
Ian are commended as their prompt actions undoubtedly prevented
Several fatalities.
