On a day when Neil was off duty he was in Victoria Road, Walton-Le-Dale when he saw two men running, one holding a handgun partially concealed, Neil tackled the person with the gun and a violent struggle broke out, Neil forced the gun out of his hand but suffered bites and injuries to his face. A 20-year-old man is currently on bail awaiting charges.
