The British Transport Police - A Force on the Move
The People
Most of the Force's more than 2000 officers are deployed at one of 90 police stations belonging to the Force's eight operating Areas covering England, Wales and Scotland.
Over 400 officers are assigned to the London Underground Area which has responsibility for the London Underground system and Docklands light railway.
Many members of the Force have been honoured for their bravery and courage, for instance at the Underground fore at King's Cross or the Clapham rail crash. In some instances, they were not even on duty at the time, but when the crunch came their professionalism, training and personal qualities shone through.
