Police Reform Lobby Of Parliament
We have been invited to attend the above event by the Federation of England and Wales. Below is a resume of the details sent through to us on Monday 11th March 2002.
All Federated Ranks are encouraged to support the mass lobby of Parliament on Wednesday 13th March. Thousands of Police Officers and their families from throughout the United Kingdom will be taking part. Please make every effort to attend, if only for a few hours.
The lobby will take place in the House of Commons, House of Lords, Portcullis House and the QE1 I Conference Centre between 1lOOhrs - 2200hrs. There will be a traditional lobby where officers go to the Central Lobby Hall in the Houses of Parliament and complete a 'green card' asking to speak with their constituency M.P.
Parliamentary rules prohibit lobbying in Parliament until l43Ohrs, until that time officers will be required to queue outside. We therefore are aiming for maximum numbers, to produce the longest possible queue for 143Ohrs. which coincides with the arrival of the Prime Minister for Prime Ministers Question Time.
A briefing paper is being produced and will be available to Officers at the QE1I Centre.
Warrant Cards: Officers will need to show their warrant card to gain access to the QE11 Centre, Houses of Parliament and Portcullis House, also to use provided transport.
Officers must be in plain clothes and off duty.
v Members of the Executive Committee will he in attendance for the duration of the day at the QE2 Centre.
