Increase to BTP Federation subscription rate

From next month you will notice a small increase in the cost of your Federation subscription of 50 pence every four weeks. This means you will pay £18.50 every four weeks or £35.70 if you are also a member of the Group Insurance Scheme.

This is the first increase in the subscription rate since 2009 and it isn't a decision we have taken lightly.

In recent years we have seen a steady increase in legal fees (criminal, misconduct and civil), and the cost of our utility bills and rent have also increased. The advice of our accountant was that maintaining the current subscription rate was not sustainable so at our conference in March a motion to increase the rate was put forward by our Treasurer.

The motion was based on the pay settlement for 2018: if pay increased by more than 2% the subscription would rise by £1 every four weeks; a pay award of 2% or less would result in an increase of 50 pence every four weeks. There was a unanimous vote in favour of these increases.

It has now been confirmed that the 2018 pay award will take effect from November 2018. The increased subscription rate will also apply from then.

BTP Federation acts on your behalf on a huge range of issues affecting you such as pay, pensions, allowances and leave, and conditions of service. We can provide free legal advice and representation for many issues including criminal, discipline, traffic and personal injury. We can also provide legal advice and representation for unlawful discrimination and pension appeals.
