As you will be aware by now the Police Committee has accepted but not adopted the above report as relayed to the Force via the intranet.
The Force Management Team had an extended meeting over the weekend of 19th/20th July to discuss the way forward, using the background of the report and the Strategic Plan as a framework for the future, the Federation was represented by our Chairman Alex Robertson.
It became apparent that the Force and the Police Committee are committed to changing the way we do business in the future and that fundamentally includes changes to our conditions of service.
The model I suspect they wish to adopt is a gradual push towards Police Regulations that govern Home Department Forces. They (Force and Police Committee) see our current conditions of service as an inhibiter to modernising the British Transport Police (Redundancy and Resettlement agreement as an example.)
At the meeting of the 19th /20th July this organisation did not enter into or agree any change to our current conditions and made it abundantly clear that any proposed changes by management to our conditions would have to be negotiated in line with the existing Machinery.
