SAFEGUARDED TRAVEL FACILITIES

Officers who joined the Force prior to April 1996 will have received a letter regarding tax implications for Travel Benefits. The Force is unwilling to pay the tax element of travel facilities for "safeguarded members".

As a Federation we are currently pursuing this matter via our tax advisors but early indications from the Inland Revenue regarding an exemption are not promising. We will update you as soon as we are in possession of further advice.
