Force Budget 2002-2003
We advised you that we
had written to all the members of the Police Committee expressing our concerns
regarding a budget shortfall. All members replied, some very supportive of out
view. I also spoke personally with the Committee Chairman, James JERRAM
C.B.E. Mr JERRAM was helpful and
sympathetic to our view.
Following deliberation
at Police Committee it was decided upon a 1% increase over last years budget
and to use a surplus of £1m to cover increased costs. This means NO
cuts in police strength and no freezing of police vacancies. Please do not
underestimate the role the federation played in these delicate negotiations.
